Walton & Allen to sell historic 19th century city centre mews properties
Posted on October 24, 2013 by Walton & Allen
Walton & Allen are proud to announce that we have recently completed the purchase of a historic row of Victorian mews terrace houses from Nottingham City Council. We are now planning to redevelop these charming properties and return them to their original use as family homes, before putting them on the market to the general public.
Dating back to around 1845, the 5 five-storey houses are situated on Mansfield Road close to the city centre and were among the first properties to be built in the area following the Enclosure Act. The properties, numbers 110 to 138, have most recently been used as business premises, but will soon be welcoming back families once again.
Mark Batty, director of Walton & Allen said, “As a Nottingham-based property company, we are delighted to acquire this historic and important terrace. It is an exciting and rare opportunity to restore these period buildings and create unique and modern family homes.”
Councillor Graham Chapman, the council’s deputy leader is equally delighted with the property deal, adding that, “Nottingham City Council is pleased to have sold these historically important buildings, helping to regenerate this area of the city. The council has stipulated that these houses are for family use. I am particularly pleased that we have found a buyer with the initiative and imagination to do this. It will be a real benefit to the area.”
